I don’t think I’ve experienced either of things, but the closest I’ve come to a near death, not for me, but for our son. When he was a little boy and we were coming up on the escalator in the Baltimore airport and his sneaker got stuck in the thing and we’re going up and we’re pulling him and we’re yelling. “Somebody turned off the thing. Turn off the electricity. Stop the…” It wouldn’t stop. We got to the top and my husband finally pulled his foot out of the shoe and the shoe came through like a pancake. That was terrifying. Near death of this little kid going into the escalator.
I don’t remember how old he was, whenever you have a little foot, a little sneakered foot on a very little person. It was easy for the end of the shoe to slip under the thing. Anyway, it was quite terrifying. I don’t know if it’s when we got out and stopped because the shoe stopped. I don’t know what happened. All I know is we got him out of the shoe and out of the escalator. But I’ve heard of that before, people’s shoes stuck.
